- Has received Christ as Savior through faith. John 1:12; Col. 2:6-7
- Walks by faith, not by sight. 2 Cor. 5:7; Heb. 11
- Responds to the Spirit’s prompting to live for God and to glorify Him. Ro. 8:11-17; 2 Th. 1:11-12
- Expresses God’s ultimate worth in all areas of life. 1 Chron. 16:23-36; Rom. 12:1
- Lives purely confessing sin. 1 Jn. 1:5-9; Ps. 51
- Practices spiritual disciplines (fasting, solitude, silence, etc.). Acts 13:1-3; Matt. 6:16-18
- Prays passionately. 1 Thess. 5:17; Luke 18:1-8; Acts 2:42
- Seeks God. Ps. 42:1; 146; Matt. 6:33

- Loves sacrificially. Matt. 5:43-48; 22:37-40
- Displays godly attitudes. (loving, content, hope-filled, joyful, at peace, etc.). Ps. 51:10; Prov. 4:23; Matt. 5:43-48; 1 Cor. 13; Gal. 5:19-26; Eph. 3:25; 5:1-20; Phil. 2:1-11; 2 John 1:5-6.
Impacts globally. Mark 16:15-16; Colossians 1:12-14.
- Lives a culturally relevant life of faith. Matt. 5
- Reproduces committed followers of Jesus 2 Tim. 2:2
- Expresses and defends his faith Col. 4:5,6; Titus 1:9; Philemon 1:6; 1 Peter 3:15
- Goes where lost people are Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15,16
- Participates in global mission efforts through prayer, learning/education and going or generous giving 2 Cor. 8:1-7; Col. 4:2-4
All are called to be disciples, and some to be leaders. Below are the further expectations of leaders.
Leads graciously.
- Is called to leadership.
- Possesses, develops and exercises gifts and abilities of leadership.
- Meets the bibilcal criteria for their level of leadership. (e.g. 1 Tim. 3 for Elders and Deacons)
- Serves by humble example, not by lording over others. 1 Cor. 11:1
- Is growing in areas of discipleship (including personal holiness) and leadership.
- Submits appropriately to authority.
- Is balanced in areas of grace and truth.
- Is motivated by love for God and people, not power, position or greed.
